Our Story
Where it all began
CLEA Technology was founded with a simple but powerful belief: that technology should be a force for good. After decades working in the IT industry, our founder Ged Kennedy made the decision to step away from the corporate world and put his skills to work where they could have the most impact within the charitable sector.
From The Start…
Ged's career began in hands-on technical work, operating CNC machinery, before progressing into software development and systems analysis for a major London-based insurance firm. He later joined a computer distribution startup, rising to the role of Sales Director. Building on this experience, he established his own IT services business, specialising in document and data capture solutions. Over two decades, this company flourished and was eventually acquired by a leading software services provider.
Giving Back
Following the sale of the business, Ged wanted to give back. He began volunteering on IT projects in Kenya, Zambia, and the UK, gaining a deep understanding of how non-profits use technology to drive mission outcomes. This led to the creation of CLEA Technology, a not-for-profit company that now supports a growing number of charities with services such as cybersecurity, donor management, fundraising systems, impact reporting, cloud storage, email infrastructure, and virtual collaboration tools.
Community Driven
Beyond his professional work, Ged has long been a committed member of the Shropshire community. Sport has played a central role in his life, particularly rugby, and later cycling. After decades of competitive participation, he transitioned into coaching, training juniors at a decent level rugby club for several years.
Family Inspired
Ged has also played a very active part in bringing up his two daughters and two sons. They are a central part of his life and are now joined by two wonderful granddaughters. His children’s names make up the name CLEA using their initials.
These combined experiences and roles have reinforced his belief in the power of community and the importance of collective effort over individualism.
