We’ve supported Build It International for over 7 years with IT strategy, cloud systems, and data tools that empower their work in the UK and Zambia.
We’re proud to continue our partnership with Build It International, a remarkable charity creating new opportunities for young people in the UK and Zambia. We're thrilled that they’ve renewed their IT support and delivery contract with Clea through to December 2025, a reflection of the trusted relationship we’ve built over the past seven years.
Our partnership actually predates Clea itself. In fact, Ged Kennedy, Clea’s founder, began working with Build It International as a volunteer, supporting their early tech needs. Today, we provide full IT support to over 30 users across their locations in Shrewsbury and Lusaka, ensuring their systems stay reliable, secure, and fit for purpose.

Five-Year IT Strategy
Clea conducted a comprehensive tech assessment of Build It International’s IT capacity, working closely with their leadership team to develop a five-year strategy. With board-level approval, this roadmap helps staff collaborate more effectively, whether they’re working from offices in the UK, project sites in Zambia, or remotely in the field. It also ensures their technology scales in line with their ambitions.
Empowering Teams with the Right Tools
Microsoft 365 Implementation
We transitioned Build It International from on-premise Microsoft Office to a fully Cloud-based Microsoft 365 setup. Tools like SharePoint and Teams now allow their staff to work more collaboratively, streamline communications, and securely share files across continents.
Salesforce Upgrade
We upgraded their CRM system from a heavily customised version of Salesforce Classic to the more flexible and user-friendly Salesforce Lightning, complete with the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP). This transition has simplified system management and improved functionality, empowering staff to handle project delivery and supporter engagement with greater ease.
Prioritising Data Privacy and Compliance
GDPR Compliance Strategy
In response to the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we supported Build It International in auditing and improving their data systems. This involved ensuring compliance across platforms such as Mailchimp and Salesforce, with clear strategies in place for supporter and participant data management.
Smarter Monitoring & Evaluation
Cloud-Based M&E Tool
We’re currently developing a mobile-friendly, Cloud-based monitoring and evaluation system that integrates directly with Salesforce. Using the Poverty Probability Index (PPI) framework, this system allows field teams to collect, analyse, and compare data more effectively across time periods — including both the original and updated (2017) PPI survey versions.
